MTA stands in solidarity with striking unionized hotel workers

MTA President Max Page and Vice President Deb McCarthy issued the following statement in support of UNITE HERE Local 26's fight for fair wages and better working conditions.

Before you travel, search hotels by name or city to learn whether hotel workers are on strike so that you may find alternatives.

Find a Fair Hotel

The unionized educators of the MTA stand in solidarity with the striking UNITE HERE Local 26 workers as they fight for a fair contract.

Let’s be clear: Multibillion-dollar hotel operators, like Hilton, have brought this strike on themselves. Hilton and other hotel operators are thriving, making billions in profit on the hard work of union members, all while their Boston workers struggle to make ends meet. Enough is enough.

UNITE HERE Local 26 workers deserve a living wage, safe working conditions, dignity and respect on the job. There’s no excuse for denying unionized hospitality workers fair pay, improved benefits or reversing the staffing cuts made during the pandemic. The hotels' profits are based on the work of Local 26 workers. Hilton and Fairmont can more than afford to meet the demands of UNITE HERE Local 26.

MTA educators have fought for the same fairness, and we know what it takes to win. The MTA is proud to stand in solidarity with UNITE HERE Local 26 members in this fight and will continue honoring picket lines.
