NEA Representative Assembly

July 2-3, 2020 | Virtual Assembly

The virtual RA will be held on July 2-3, 2020, times TBD. All delegates will receive information for participating in the virtual RA by mid-to-late June. You will also be able to have access to information through the NEA RA app and at www.ra.nea.org.

The RA is the largest democratic deliberative assembly in the world where you as a delegate get to use your voice to help adopt policy and chart the direction of NEA business.

The NEA has decided to hold a virtual NEA RA (RA pj's!!) to ensure the safety and health of its members.

  • The RA will be a shorter meeting: NBI's (New Business Items)
  • Revisions to the Resolutions and Legislative programs; Constitutional and Bylaw Amendments will be delayed until the 2021 RA.
  • Voting will be done through a mail-in ballot. As NEA elections are LMRDA compliant, there is no option for voting on-line.

The sole items to be considered at the 2020 Representative Assembly, and the order to which those matters will be considered, will be:

The election of the NEA president, vice president, Secretary-Treasurer, two members of the NEA Executive Committee, and the at-large members of the NEA Board of Directors; delegate consideration of the endorsement recommendation from the NEA Fund for Children and Public Education for president of the United States in the 2020 general election; the adoption of the NEA Strategic Plan & Budget for the 2020-22 fiscal year.
