Support the ballot initiative to replace the MCAS graduation requirement

Pass the Thrive Act

On Monday, March 4, the Legislature’s Special Joint Committee on Initiative Petitions will hold a hearing on the MTA-backed ballot initiative to replace the MCAS graduation requirement.

Oral testimony at the hearing will be limited, but the committee is also accepting written testimony on the initiative. It is essential that the committee hear from many of the more than 100,000 Massachusetts educators and allies whose tireless work and signatures got us to this point.

Please complete this form to share why you support replacing the MCAS graduation requirement and we will deliver your testimony to the committee.

Please also take a moment to send a letter to your representative and senator in support of the Thrive Act, which in addition to replacing the MCAS graduation requirement would also eliminate state receiverships and establish a commission to develop a whole-child assessment system.

This hearing is just one step in our campaign, but it is an important opportunity to make clear to the Legislature that educators and allies across the Commonwealth are demanding an education system that focuses on real teaching and learning – not high-stakes testing that narrows the curriculum and unjustly denies students a diploma.
