MTA Forum on mental health issues with Education Secretary Tutwiler
MTA Forum with Education Secretary Patrick Tutwiler
Thursday, Jan. 11 at 4 p.m.
Virtual Event
Last summer, the following question was posed to MTA members:
Based upon your observations and experience in your classroom and school, what are your ideas for improving mental wellness for your students? For your fellow educators? For yourself?
The responses to this prompt are outlined in a new report, Classroom Solutions to the Mental Health Crisis in Our Schools, which lays out eight recommendations for change. Bringing more licensed mental health professionals in schools, giving educators more help in the classroom, and raising and respecting the voices of educators and students are among the recommendations and proposed solutions in this report.
At 4 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 11, MTA members will have an opportunity to share their concerns and experiences with student behavior and mental health issues with Education Secretary Patrick Tutwiler. Go here to speak at the forum and also be sure to register. Please note that comments will be limited to one to two minutes each.
