Open Enrollment Open November 1 for plans starting January 1
Through legislation sponsored by Health Care for All and supported by the MTA, Massachusetts is expanding support for moderate income people in purchasing high-quality affordable health insurance, which is provided through the state’s ConnectorCare program. This expansion increases the income limits for subsidies starting January 1, 2024. ConnectorCare has already been an important source of health insurance for adjunct and part-time faculty and staff with incomes under 300% of Federal Poverty Level (FPL). It will now be available for households with incomes up to 500% of FPL, and those with incomes that fluctuate around 300% of FPL will no longer have to worry about losing eligibility.
What is ConnectorCare?
ConnectorCare insurance is provided through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Health Connector. The Health Connector manages state and federal health care subsidies and tax credits and contracts with private insurance companies to provide health insurance to eligible individuals and families.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible for ConnectorCare benefits if you:
- Have a household income less than 500% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Currently, 500% of FPL is $67,950 for an individual and $138,750 for a family of four.
- Do not have access to an employer’s health insurance or your employer-provided insurance is unaffordable, defined as having premiums greater than 9.61% of your income (including plans you are offered but are not enrolled in).
- Live in Massachusetts and a US Citizen, National, or lawfully present immigrant in the US.
- Do not qualify for Medicare, MassHealth (Medicaid) or other public health insurance programs.
