Support the Right to Strike
Join with MTA members and union allies at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, when the Legislature’s Joint Committee on Labor and Workforce Development hears testimony on An Act uplifting families and securing the right to strike for certain public employees.
MTA members and other unionized public sector employees are at a disadvantage at the bargaining table because we do not have the legal leverage to withhold labor if a fair contract cannot be negotiated in a timely manner. Public employees deserve the same rights that our colleagues in the private sector have when it comes to securing labor contracts that protect and value workers. Currently, even talking about strikes is prohibited and puts our members at legal risk while suppressing our rights to free speech.
