MTA recommends Galvin for secretary of state
The MTA, which represents 115,000 educators across the state, is recommending that voters re-elect Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin. Based on a recent vote by its Candidate Recommendation Committee, the MTA urges voters in the Democratic primary election on Sept. 6 to choose Galvin. The MTA also recommends that all Massachusetts voters cast their ballots for him in the general election on Nov. 8.
The MTA issued the following statement today:
“At a time when people’s access to the ballot is under attack across the nation, Secretary of the Commonwealth William Galvin has led an ambitious fight to protect and expand voting rights in Massachusetts. In doing so, he has helped protect and preserve the integrity of elections in our state. He has also demonstrated the great value of his experience in the post. A democracy cannot function if its citizens are blocked from participating in the electoral process. Secretary Galvin’s goals of establishing Election Day registration and making it routine to provide mail-in voting and early in-person voting opportunities are important steps for fairness and equity. They ensure that working people will have their voices heard on the vital issues that affect them and their families.”
STATE PRIMARY IS TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 6
KEY DATES
