New Business Item promotes the work of Elders Stand for Fair Elections

The MTA Board of Directors passed a New Business Item in June supporting and promoting the work of Elders Stand for Fair Elections.

Elders Stand for Fair Elections volunteers are working to ensure that every eligible voter in the country gets to cast a vote safely in the 2020 General Election— and to have that vote duly counted.

“Considering the events surrounding the Wisconsin and Georgia primary elections, it is essential that the constitutional right to vote and to have that vote counted be protected, especially for elder voters,” noted MTA Retired member Gerry Ruane, who submitted the NBI.

The nonprofit group is part of the Elders Action Network, a social and environmental justice organization based in California with chapters in several states.
