All In: Building Union Power
Unions are needed to stand up to the wealthy special interests whose policies undermine public education and the common good.

Barbara Madeloni,
President
Greetings,
Educators know all too well the effect on students of the chronic underfunding of our public schools. Help fix that underfunding by supporting An Act Modernizing the Foundation Budget for the 21st Century, a bill that would modify the school funding formula, leading to significant increases in education funding.
Last month the state Senate voted unanimously to pass this bill, which now sits in the House waiting for a vote. Please go here to contact your state representative today or tomorrow - Wednesday or Thursday - and ask him or her to sign on to a letter in support. Our students, educators and communities deserve funding that meets the promise of a high-quality public education for every student.
Join the MTA at Boston Pride Parade
Come march behind the MTA banner at the Boston Pride Parade this Saturday, June 9. The parade will leave Copley Square around noon. MTA members are asked to meet up at 11:45 a.m. in front of the Bank of America at 699 Boylston St. Share our love for the diversity of our students and feel the love when, all along the route, people shout "Yay, teachers!" as we walk behind our banner.

Join with union sisters and brothers to learn how to make connections, identify issues, develop strategies and use your collective power to win the schools and colleges our communities deserve.

Show Your Pride in Being Union
Follow the lead of Northampton educators, who made the banner at the top of this e-mail. Take a picture of yourself and your colleagues holding a UNION sign and post it on the day the U.S. Supreme Court hands down its decision in the Janusv. AFSCME case. This case, which is backed by right-wing corporate interests in an attempt to undermine union power, will be decided sometime in the next few weeks. We want members across the state to speak out loud and clear: We are union proud and union strong.
