More than 700 MTA members participated in a virtual emergency hearing on Aug. 3. The hearing was attended by a dozen state legislators, who listened to the concerns of higher education students, staff and faculty, as well as preK-12 educators, about the negative impact of the cuts that campuses have made in response to the COVID-19 crisis.

The hearing drove home the point that Massachusetts must protect its public college and university campuses – and that layoffs, furloughs and program cuts are unwarranted and will undermine the mission of public higher education for years to come.
