Rally in Defiance of Hate and White Supremacy

Rally in Defiance of Hate and White Supremacy

Barbara Madeloni

Barbara Madeloni, President

Greetings,

MTA members will march with other activists from throughout Massachusetts tomorrow, August 19, to demand justice and stand in defiance of white supremacy.

I urge you to join the Fight Supremacy Boston Counter-Protest and Resistance Rally if you can.

Go here for more information and updates.

Members of the so-called alt-right have been emboldened by the Trump administration in Washington, D.C. Tomorrow, some of them will converge on Boston Common for a "Free Speech Rally" at which they can be counted on to spread their hate-filled white supremacist ideology.

The events last weekend in Charlottesville, Virginia, are just one more horrific reminder that we must name racism, white supremacy and anti-Semitism as part of our history and present, work to dismantle them, and encourage the empathy, sense of justice and moral courage necessary to build a better world for all.

Members are urged to wear their union colors tomorrow and to gather at 9:30 a.m. at the Reggie Lewis Track and Athletic Center, 1350 Tremont St., Boston.

From there, they will march behind the MTA banner for two miles to the site of the counter-protest rally on Boston Common.

MTA member Alexizendria Link, a Worcester teacher, has been invited to speak at the gathering in Roxbury before the march to the Common.

If you go, please be sure to stay alert and stay safe. Thousands are attending. Take courage in collective action.

Stay connected to events by following #BostonResist, #FightSupremacy and  #Charlottesville on Twitter.

Solidarity,

Barbara
