Nominations Accepted to fill vacant seat on the Candidate Recommendation Committee Nomination Deadline: April 28, 2021

Nominations are now open to fill a vacant seat on the MTA Candidate Recommendation Committee (CRC). The committee is responsible for making recommendations to MTA members to support candidates for state and federal office. There is currently a vacancy on the committee: one seat representing Congressional District 1.

Each committee member must reside in the congressional district to be represented. If you live in Massachusetts Congressional District 1, you are eligible to nominate yourself. If unsure of your district, there is an online tool to look up that information: https://www.govtrack.us/congress/members

Any eligible MTA member interested in running for the CRC should fill out the self-nomination form, available online.

The form and optional biographical statement of not more than 100 words must be submitted by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. Vacancies on the committee that occur between regular election cycles are filled by a vote of the current committee members. After the conclusion of the nomination period, the list of candidates and their biographical statements (if provided) will be sent to the committee for consideration at its next (virtual) meeting on May 4. Candidates are welcome to attend, and details will be provided.

Term: The term of a seat that fills an interim vacancy is “until the next regular election is held.” This seat will have a term beginning on the date voted upon by the committee and expiring on March 14, 2022.

Election Waiver: If the number of candidates is equal to or less than the number of positions to be filled, elections may be waived and the candidate/s declared elected to the position/s in question.
