MTA ‘thrilled’ by leadership on vaccinations for educators

“Governor Charlie Baker: It’s time to get with the program."

The following statement was issued today by MTA President Merrie Najimy:

“We are thrilled that President Biden recognizes how important it is to vaccinate school employees so that we can protect the many thousands of school employees already working in person and so we can open schools more fully this spring. In-person learning is by far the best way to meet our students’ social, emotional and academic needs. In Massachusetts, Senate President Karen Spilka and House Speaker Ronald Mariano have made the same case.

“Governor Charlie Baker: It’s time to get with the program. Make school employees eligible now and approve our Last Mile Vaccine Delivery Plan to get them vaccinated quickly in their own districts. It is also time to vaccinate public higher education employees to give those already working in person the same protection – and so that our colleges and universities can increase on-campus learning. For the sake of students, educators and our communities, there’s no time to waste.”
