Parents, students and educators across the country will join together on Wednesday, May 4, for a massive “walk-in” to reclaim public schools.

Now is the time to organize a walk-in for the schools in your district. Click here for materials to help sign up participants and to get an idea of what a walk-in might look like.

On the morning of May 4, supporters of public education will gather outside their public schools. During a brief rally, speakers are urged to advocate for the public schools that all children deserve, and they might also choose to address the issues that stand in the way of providing an excellent public education — such as high-stakes testing and losing money to charter schools. This is also a good opportunity to celebrate your schools’ accomplishments.

Students, parents, educators and community supporters will then walk in and symbolically reclaim their schools.

The Alliance to Reclaim Our Schools engaged more than 40,000 people at 838 schools in 30 cities during the first walk-in day on February 17.
