Mass Education Justice Alliance to Senate: "Keep the cap on charter schools"

The Massachusetts Education Justice Alliance sent a letter to members of the Massachusetts Senate last week urging them to oppose bills to lift the cap on charter schools. The cap has been lifted repeatedly since charter schools were first permitted. This year alone, Commonwealth charter schools will cost district public schools almost $420 million. Lifting the cap further would accelerate the rate at which charter schools undermine the education of students in our district public schools. The MEJA is a coalition of parent, community, education, faith and social justice organizations. The MTA is a member of the coalition and a signatory to the MEJA letter.
