Support a voice for early childhood educators
Please reach out to your state representative and senator and urge them to support legislation that gives early childhood educators a strong and organized voice at child-care centers across Massachusetts.
House Bill 1671, An Act Relating to Improving Quality in Early Education and Care Through Center Child Care Providers, establishes a non-traditional union for an estimated 10,000 early childhood educators in more than 1,000 centers that either have state-funded contracts or serve children who receive state subsidies.
The bill, the subject of a legislative hearing on Tuesday, Oct. 4, is aimed at helping early childhood educators get the pay and respect they deserve and, over time, will help close the achievement gap among students by recruiting and retaining highly qualified early education workers.
Please ask your elected legislators to support this bill and urge the members of the Public Service Committee to favorably report it out of committee. Giving a voice to these educators will help them improve their profession and benefit the children in their care.
