Charter schools, teacher unions on agenda for two events

MTA vice president Paul Toner will speak on panel, Innovations in Massachusetts Public Education: Charter Schools and Beyond. The program takes place Tuesday, October 13, 6 - 7:30 p.m., Suffolk University Law School, 120 Tremont St., Boston.

Chris Gabrieli, co-founder and chair of Mass 2020 will provide a keynote. In addition to Toner, panelists include Kevin Andrews, president, Massachusetts Charter Public School Association; Carol Johnson, superintendent, Boston Public Schools; Paul Reville, Mass. Secretary of Education; Jim Stergios, executive director, Pioneer Institute; and Rep. Marty Walz.

Toner will also appear October 12 in South Yarmouth when the Cape Lyceum presents Education Reform and Teacher Unions: Beyond ‘Can’t We All Just Get Along?’ The program begins at 7 p.m. in the Cultural Center of Cape Cod, 307 Old Main Street. Suggested donation, $10.
