April classroom resources

April is...

Mathematics Awareness Month: The theme for 2009 is Mathematics and Climate. Download or order a free classroom poster from the official MAM Web site, where you will find podcasts, a schedule of activities nationwide and other resources.

National Poetry Month: For the month of April, sign up to receive a poem a day in your email from Poets.org, the Web site of the Academy of American Poets. Educators can order a free Poetry Month poster and browse classroom tips.

School Library Media Month: NEA.org offers three ways to celebrate libraries. Celebrate National Library Workers Day, April 14, and National Library Week with resources from the American Library Association.

April is also the month when we observe National Environmental Education Week (EE Week), the largest organized environmental education event in the United States, according the NEA. Registered EE Week partners enjoy access to an extensive online curricula library. Partners also receive certificates of participation, a free copy of National Geographic Explorer magazine, and a monthly e-newsletter, filled with classroom resources and opportunities for funding and professional development.
