House passes bill without Romney's health insurance increase
The House took action today on a budget-cutting bill Gov. Mitt Romney filed last Thursday.
Romney's proposal had included an increase in health insurance premiums paid by state and municipal employees.
The much-revised bill that the House approved does not include that provision. The bill now moves to the Senate, which is not expected to act until next week. The Senate is not likely to include Romney's premium increase provision in its version.
While Romney's proposal was not included in this bill, it will undoubtedly re-surface when the FY04 budget is debated later in the spring.
