Proposition 2 1/2 override manual available
Better Funding/Better Schools was designed by MTA Communications to give local education associations some nuts-and-bolts advice about leading or participating in a successful Prop. 2 1/2 override campaign.
MTA has produced a new guide, Better Funding/Better Schools: a Roadmap to Overriding Proposition 2 1/2, to help local associations that are participating in local override efforts.
Better Funding/Better Schools was designed by MTA Communications to give local education associations some nuts-and-bolts advice about leading or participating in a successful override campaign.
The main text of the guide can be downloaded here and is available to association members and the general public alike. The appendix to Better Funding, which contains examples of fliers and other campaign materials, is not available online. The $28 billion budget increases funding for Chapter 70 and public higher education and does not include an increase in the health insurance premium shares for state employees.

The MTA strongly opposes the November ballot initiative because it would devastate public education, the economy and our quality of life in Massachusetts. The consequences would be dire.

But the proposal includes new tax cuts for corporations and financial institutions and new loopholes and tax avoidance opportunities. Chapter 70, when inflation is taken into account, is still $421 million below FY02 funding levels.
