UnConference, Saturday, Nov. 23, Cambridge. A day of participant-led, educator-run professional development around the Common Core State Standards & PARCC assessments. Newton elementary school assistant principal Tiffany Back, Burlington instructional technology specialist instructor Dan Callahan, and Natick English teacher Camille Napier Bernstein are organizers for the MTA’s inaugural event.

Just for New Teachers, Friday, Dec. 6, Marlborough. A great opportunity for early career and future educators to learn tools of the trade from veteran teachers. Licensure, teaching English language learners and legal basics are among the workshop offerings. State Education Secretary Matt Malone will address the conference.

Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee Conference
, Friday, Dec. 6 & Saturday, Dec. 7, Framingham. Aimed at fostering involvement among minority members, “Celebrating Our Union Heritage” is the theme of the 2013 conference. Fitchburg Mayor Lisa Wong will deliver the keynote address.
