Coalition for public sector workers airs their stories

When you hear the Red Sox on the radio this spring, you’ll also hear from several public employees about the work they do for the residents of Massachusetts, thanks to a coalition dedicated to telling their stories.
Working Massachusetts, a coalition representing tens of thousands of public sector workers across the Commonwealth, is sharing those workers’ stories on the Red Sox Radio Network for the beginning of baseball season. The commercials feature several public sector workers from a variety of professions, talking about their jobs and the impact of their work on you and your family.
“Public sector employees contribute so much to the quality of life we have here in Massachusetts, but often their efforts are not visible to the citizens,” said Joe Dorant, Working Massachusetts co-chair. “We want people to hear the real story about public sector workers and all the good things they do for us every single day.”
“Every one of us gets something good from the work of public sector employees every day, and many of us don’t even stop to think how much that work means to our lives in our state,” said Ron Patenaude, Working Massachusetts co-chair. “When people hear these workers tell the stories about what they do, I think they’ll start to realize how many people work every day to help us all, from nurses to firefighters to graduate assistants at our state universities.”
The radio ads will air on the Red Sox Radio Network stations through May 22. And can be heard here:

One of the ads features Sue Leahy, a teacher from Billerica. You can hear what she has to say about today's students--and hear two of her students talk about the difference she's made in their lives.
