Please urge your senator to support pro-education amendments to the Senate budget

The MTA is seeking support for several amendments to the Senate Ways and Means budget proposed on May 16. While the budget does provide for increased funding for preK-12 schools and public higher education, the MTA believes that additional measures and more funding are needed to ensure great public schools and colleges for every student.

“MTA members are strongly urged to make their voices heard right away on these important amendments,” said MTA President Paul Toner. “Please send a message and make sure other educators take the same step.”

The amendments call for: a reconstituted Foundation Budget Review Commission; a clear statement of purpose for our community colleges; a seat at the table for faculty and staff in determining the future of community colleges; and increased funding for scholarships for public higher education students.
